Six ways to meet the Niagara River, each captained by a licensed guide who knows the current, the rock, and the weather of the gorge. Sail up close to the falls, hike the stratified walls, drift through the whirlpool, or light up the night with an evening cruise.
Falls View Boat Tours
The vessel that started it all in 2014. Launched from our Cornwall dock, each tour throttles straight up the current toward the lip of the great cascade, then holds station in the basin while the mist closes over the deck. Your guide narrates the geology of the abrupt rock step, the volume of water moving overhead each second, and the history of the daredevils who once attempted the drop.
Every sailing lasts about ninety minutes and includes a certified life jacket, a weatherproof poncho, and a dry bag for your camera. Seating is open air on the bow and covered at the stern, so you can choose between the full spray or a drier perch. Families with young children are welcome, and our crew will fit jackets for every size.
Departures run hourly from first light to dusk through the warm season. On busy weekends we add a sunrise sailing that catches the gorge in soft pink light before the crowds arrive.
Gorge Hike Excursions
For guests who meet the river on foot, our guided hikes follow the layered rock bands of the gorge rim. The easy route keeps to the top of the wall, where the viewing platforms hang over the channel; the full route descends a switchback trail to the waterline, where you can stand beside the swirl-pools and listen to the current grind against the stone.
The trademarked rain arc, a permanent curl of mist that bends over a shallow side channel, is the showpiece of the walk. Guides point out where each of the three visible droplets forms and explain the weather pattern that keeps it alive even in a dry summer.
Most excursions last two hours and cover a little over four kilometres. Sturdy shoes, water, and a sun hat are recommended. In late autumn the trail turns golden, and in winter we equip guests with traction cleats for the icy sections.
Whirlpool Jet Drift
No tour matches the pulse of the jet drift. Twin outboard-powered vessels carve tight figure-eights through the live-fast channel, where the descending current coils into a standing spiral. Your skipper throws the craft into deliberate spins, slaloms past drifting foam, and cuts hard along the faces of the standing waves until the wash breaks over everyone aboard.
This is a wet, loud, laughing ride and it is intentionally so. Every guest wears a full flotation jacket and a helmet liner, and the skipper stops the maneuver on request simply by lifting a hand. We recommend guests leave phones and loose items in the lockers at the dock, because the decks stay wet all day.
With a minimum age of generally around nine years, the jet drift suits teenagers, work teams, and anyone who wants an answer to the question of how strong the river really is.
Evening Illumination Cruises
When sunset fades and the gorge lights come on, the falls glow in layered colours that shift with the music of the nightly light show. Our evening cruises cast off just after dark and make a slow, reverent pass through the spray, keeping the vessel at a distance that frames the whole cascade between the rock walls.
Aboard, heated cabins, soft deck lighting, and a counter of hot drinks and light snacks keep the mood warm. The upper deck offers the full view, with space to set a tripod, while the lower cabin stays dry and cosy for those who want to watch through the windows.
These sailings run on a seasonal evening timetable and are the fastest to sell out, so we recommend reserving several days ahead. We also offer a dessert-and-coffee bundle that has become a quiet favourite for celebrations.
Winter Festival of Lights Runs
Cold weather does not close the river, and it does not close us either. During the winter festival of lights, our heated shuttle vessels run evening circuits along the bank, threading past the glowing displays while the frozen spray feathers the rail in white. The gorge in winter is quieter, softer, and shot through with tiny reflections that never appear in summer.
Each run lasts about forty-five minutes in a fully heated, fully enclosed cabin with wide windows and bench seating. Blankets are onboard and free, and hot cider is served between loops. Families and older guests especially enjoy this gentler way to see the falls without braving the cold wind.
Departures follow the festival schedule each winter evening, with extra runs on weekends and public holidays. A valid departure board and our usual safety briefing come before every sailing.
Private Charters and Group Bookings
Turn the whole vessel over to your gathering. Private charters for weddings, corporate retreats, and family reunions give you the entire deck, your own skipper, your own soundtrack, and an itinerary built around your schedule. We set up seating, arrange catering, hoist a custom flag, and even print a spare pennant for the bow rail.
Groups of eight to around eighty have sailed with us, from a pair of honeymooners booking a moonlight run to a full-scale team-building day with three staggered departures. We coordinate the boarding times so everyone gets aboard smoothly and keep the supply runs separate so no detail is left to chance.
